“Working with Grant Walsh, as an executive coach, has helped me with strategically growing my boutique law firm. His extensive leadership experience, including senior management roles overseeing growth-oriented operations, and his strong people skills, overseeing large groups of staff, have helped me to navigate the issues facing a firm with a changing structure and new players. His tailored advice was and is incredibly helpful to me in taking over and managing my law firm. I have no hesitation in recommending his consulting and coaching services.”Mark R. Youngman, Senior Lawyer, Gasee, Cohen & Youngman "You are certainly one of the most successful CEOs that I have ever met. Your performance was outstanding as far as turning around St. Peter’s Hospital and growing its services. I always appreciated and admired your tenacity and determination in achieving your goal, your ability to develop partnerships, and the respectful manner in which you treated each individual. I would like to thank you for your advice and support during my tenure as Minister of Health and Long Term Care.” Elizabeth Witmer, Member of Provincial Parliament, Former Minister of Health and Long Term Care, Province of Ontario “This is what the leadership of Grant Walsh has been all about. From the very beginning, he radiated unshakable faith in St. Peter’s and belief in its possibilities and its people whose leadership has been entrusted to him. The result has been nothing short of miraculous. Grant’s leadership is rooted in solid personal values, steady commitment to service and genuine respect for others. Underneath his cool, smooth exterior there beats a sensitive and caring heart; you can’t miss it if you observe the way he treats his staff and all of St. Peter’s patients, residents and their families. He is intelligent and direct; loyal and generous. He is also decisive, shrewd and tough. But he has proven that those attributes are not inconsistent with courtesy, decency and compassion.” Recognition presented by the St. Peter’s Board of Directors, “in appreciation of your extraordinary leadership, devotion and commitment to St. Peter’s Health System.” “I have had the great personal pleasure and professional opportunity to work with Grant Walsh for over 6 years and witness his extraordinary leadership and passion for developing a robust, caring and successful enterprise. As a visionary leader, in the capacity of CEO of St. Peter’s Health System, I witnessed Grant’s drive, energy, commitment, sacrifice and enthusiasm, in my capacity as an executive board member and board chair. I watched and worked with him as he completely transformed a public organization, destined for closure by the provincial government, into a visibly-thriving, multi-faceted, financially-successful enterprise dedicated to serving the health needs of a special population. Grant conducted his leadership of the board, the management team, staff and health-care colleagues with the utmost respect for their needs and beliefs. He consistently demonstrated a passion for achievement of the shared goals of an organization through the principles of inclusion, effective communication and creative recognition programs. Throughout his tenure at St. Peter’s, he devoted countless hours to expanding its reputation while prudently leveraging resources to achieve growth and stability.” “Grant’s accomplishments during his tenure at St. Peter’s have been many and the Hamilton area community is a better place as a result of his work here. Grant was hired into St. Peter’s as a transformational leader and his success in this role was remarkable. When Grant left, St. Peter’s hospital was recognized as one of Ontario’s centres of excellence in providing a continuum of complex services and at the same time balancing its budgets. Grant has the ability to articulate a vision and build support both inside and outside the organization for making it a reality. His high energy level and intense focus on achieving the goals he has committed to are notable strengths. What has distinguished Grant in the healthcare sector is his businesslike approach to building an organization which delivers high quality services in a fiscally responsible manner.” “Grant’s vision and dedication to both patients and staff were instrumental in St. Peter’s rebirth and ongoing development as a leader. Through his hard work, affiliations with McMaster University and other healthcare partners flourished and continue to this day. His keen business acumen has consistently allowed St. Peter’s to maintain a positive financial balance along with a vibrant Foundation which is generously supported by many prominent business and community leaders.” “Grant is a strong leader in our community. He has demonstrated extraordinary skills as a leader in saving St. Peter’s Hospital from closure to growing it threefold into a diversified health system. Grant is a goal oriented leader who is a strong agent of change in growing a business. His ability to use his visionary skills allows Grant to see many steps ahead in his decision making process. It is one of his greatest strengths. Grant displayed strong fiscal knowledge over his term at St. Peter’s. The health system has grown from major deficits to making capital contributions for reinvestment back into its healthcare model, an extraordinary accomplishment considering the health care system in Ontario. I have witnessed Grant using his strong interpersonal skills in dealing with conflict and working toward proactive resolutions. He uses his ability to communicate as a successful tool to inspire his staff to new levels of success. His leadership skills allow him to succeed in the public and private sectors.” Chairman’s Leadership Award presented by the Board of Directors, “for outstanding contribution to the growth and sustainability of St. Peter’s.” Canadian Public Relations Society: CEO Leadership “Pinnacle Award” presented to the CEO who has supported the profession resulting in the dramatic elevation of corporate profile in the community. “Grant has proven himself to be adaptable and a highly skilled leader in sales and operations. He sets very high standards and holds people accountable for results. I have been very impressed with his performance.” The Canadian Association of School Administrators: Recognition presented “in appreciation of your support of Education and Educational Leadership in Canada.” “Grant has an amazing ability to manage complex priorities and bring them all in on time and on budget. I remember saying, “how do you keep all those balls in the air?” Well, he controlled them and brought them down according to his schedule. I commend his remarkable growth strategy and execution! Grant delivered very impressive performance!” “Reposing special trust and confidence in your integrity and ability, I hereby appoint and commission you as a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council of the State of Missouri.” St Andrew’s Episcopal Presbyterian Foundation: Elected a member of the Honorary Board of Directors for Life. “I am delighted to hear that the Truman Restorative Center is back on its feet and providing much needed care for the citizens of this state. Several years ago, the situation and morale at Truman was at a very low ebb. However, you seized the opportunity for positive change and have transformed Truman into a facility of which all Missourians can be proud. Truman’s transformation is a direct result of your efforts and leadership. I commend you for your accomplishments and thank you on behalf of our citizens” “I am pleased to take this opportunity to thank you for the outstanding job done at Harry S. Truman Restorative Center. Given the magnitude of the problems we faced, I was appreciative of your assistance in staving off the decertification of Truman Restorative Center. Instead of decertifying the Center, the Department of Health and Hospitals chose to impose sanctions on admissions. As a result of the expeditious manner in which you addressed the operational deficiencies, the sanctions were lifted after a period of only six months. When you agreed to accept this turnaround assignment, it seemed to be an impossible goal. We are grateful that under your leadership, the Harry S. Truman Restorative Center has passed licensure inspection and is now a facility that the City of St. Louis can point to with pride.” American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging: The Hobart Jackson Award presented “for leadership in the advancement of women and minorities in management.” Missouri Association of Homes and Services for the Aging: The Meritorious Service Award, the Association’s highest honor, presented “in recognition of outstanding service in the field of aging.” Award presented “in appreciation for services and contributions encouraging the development of programs and services for older adults in the State of Missouri.” |
